AUTOPSY, 2020
Inkjet prints, frames
120.6 x 120.6 cm (47½ x 47½ in)
Shan Wu & Drew Cavicchi
The dissected photograph is of a field of burned down trees with newly grown plants taking over. Frames were collected from thrift stores in the Los Angeles area.
AUTOPSY is an examination of death from wildfire — nearly 85 percent of wildland fires in the United States are caused by humans — and disposal of goods. The autopsy performed by the artist also offers a look at regrow and reuse.
