BARDO, 2018 (edition 1), 2020 (edition 2) Digital video with sound, screen, expired food, speaker | Dimensions variable | 20 min. loop
Mandarin voice-over with English subtitles/ live performace
Performance at the California Institute of the Arts, 2018

BARDO connects expired food with a concept from Buddhism — Bardo, an intermediate, transitional, or liminal state between death and rebirth. While objects have been defined as objects and dates have been assigned, Bardo‘s personification of food offers a humble disbelief and repentance that calls for consideration and cautiousness within modern culture.

BARDO takes form of a video installation, a performance, a film, and an online archive.
